Reports indicated that school-based sports, cultural and health-related activities in the Central region are making positive impact in furthering overall student competence.
Asmara, 25 June 2013 – Reports indicated that school-based sports, cultural and health-related activities in the Central region are making positive impact in furthering overall student competence.
Mr. Tsegai Semere from the Education Ministry’s branch in the region pointed out that various contests were staged in this regard with a view to promoting student inclinations towards environmental health, physical fitness and preparing for career niche. He further disclosed that more than 22,000 students took part in such activities this year.
Likewise, Ms. Zaid Mesfin expressed conviction that an exposure of this type is a stepping stone towards nurturing a generation that is altogether physically fit, adherent to cultural values and predominantly successful in career development.
Among students, Bethlehem Michael and Yoel Temesgen asserted that the extracurricular activities constitute a remarkable prerequisite as regards ensuring a bright future.
Meanwhile, general knowledge, oratory and sports contests were conducted among schools in Serejeka sub-zone during a Student Week.
