Southern region: Community elders call for further tête-à-tête encounter with government officials in connection with Minister’s seminar

Community elders from the sub-zones of Senafe, Adi-Keyih, Tserona, Mai-Aini, Segeneiti and Dekemhare have called for more tête-à-tête encounter as it constitutes a remarkable cause in fostering mutual understanding between communities and government institutions.

Mendefera, 27 June 2013 – Community elders from the sub-zones of Senafe, Adi-Keyih, Tserona, Mai-Aini, Segeneiti and Dekemhare have called for more tête-à-tête encounter as it constitutes a remarkable cause in fostering mutual understanding between communities and government institutions.

They made the call during a seminar with the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, which was conducted today in Dekemhare city with a view to sharing views with the inhabitants concerning agricultural development and related issues.

In the course of the seminar, the Minister gave detailed briefings on the ongoing national programs as regards soil and water conservation, enrichment of water resources, agricultural development and wildlife, among others.

Moreover, the participants of the seminar put forth views and conducted in-depth discussion regarding several issues.

One of the seminar participants, Rev. Siele from Tserona sub-zone noted the vitality of direct discussion and transparency pertaining to creating goodwill in connection with government programs, and called for further focus to this end. In the same vein, Hajj Siraj from Senafe sub-zone called on the inhabitants to back up government programs focusing on food security.

Mr. Arefaine also expressed the Ministry’s readiness to organize such occasions in the future.
