The inhabitants of Adi-Gaul village, Mendefera sub-zone, are constructing a pond through integrating financial and labor resources with a view to meeting water supply for livestock and humans.
Mendefera, 28 June 2013 – The inhabitants of Adi-Gaul village, Mendefera sub-zone, are constructing a pond through integrating financial and labor resources with a view to meeting water supply for livestock and humans.
Among the inhabitants, Rev. Tekle Tewolde, Ms. Alem Ogbatsion and Mr. Asmelash Habte lauded the government’s commitment to rural development. They further indicated that active female participation is being witnessed in the community venture, in which natives of the village residing abroad are expected to raise financial input.
Mr. Woldu Tekle expressed conviction that the construction of the pond would be a short-term remedy to the instances of water scarcity witnessed in the area.
Mr. Eyob Solomon from the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Mendefera sub-zone called on the inhabitants to construct terraces in the environs of the pond so as to prevent sedimentary deposit.
