Keren, 10 July 2013 – A total of 44 outstanding 11th grade students, 11 of whom are females, received Shalot Award in Anseba region. The award was organized through collaboration between the Education Ministry’s and NUEYS branches in the region.
Speaking at the handing ceremony, Mr. Teklesenbet Zerai from the Education Ministry’s branch office indicated that the exemplary students represent 9 schools, and that the highest average point of the year is 97.5%, which is scored by a student from one of the remote areas of Asmat sub-zone.
Mr. Luigi Husein, head of the NUEYS branch, explained that the award is aimed at fostering student enthusiasm through creating models at regional level.
Jemal Ibrahim Mohammed, the student with the highest score, expressed satisfaction with the award and the free educational opportunity being given nationwide, and asserted that he would do his level best in his career as a student.
Likewise, Niyat Firay pointed out that the award calls for further hard work.
Following the award’s handing, Mr. Tekie Kelati, Mayor of Keren city, called on the successful students to strive for higher accomplishment in their academic pursuit, and expressed appreciation for the schools representing them.
