Efforts being exerted towards improving service quality by health institutions in Anseba region

The Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region pointed out that further efforts are being exerted towards improving service quality by health institutions, the number of which presents stands at 40.

Keren, 12 July 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region pointed out that further efforts are being exerted towards improving service quality by health institutions, the number of which presents stands at 40.

It made the remark at a meeting, during which it was stated that the practice of female genital mutilation has shown decline from 25% to 4% in line with the joint venture made regarding community sensitization, and that the role of the community committees in this regard has become vital.

Moreover, more gratifying achievement was made as regards malaria prevention, while various additional infrastructural facilities have been put in place in several health institutions.

Dr. Kesetebirhan Solomon,Head of the branch office, said that  future undertakings would focus on additional integrated efforts pertaining to antenatal and postnatal care, mother and child care, control and follow-up of communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as prevention of targeted infectious diseases. He also disclosed that the introduction of soak-pit latrines in 78 villages has by and large promoted environmental health.

Moreover, Dr. Kesetebirhan called on health personnel in the region to demonstrate commitment as regards sharing experience with new staff members, in addition to calling for the holding of regular assessment meetings.
