Azel Pharmaceutical Factory meets 35% of nation medicine demand

The Azel Pharmaceutical Factory which was established in Keren 10 years back is covering 30 to 35 percent of the nation’s domestic medicine demand, and that it has been making significant contribution in reducing the amount of medicines being imported from abroad, stated Mr. Misgina Tekleab, Manage of the factory.

Keren, 13 July 2013- The Azel Pharmaceutical Factory which was established in Keren 10 years back is covering 30 to 35 percent of the nation’s domestic medicine demand, and that it has been making significant contribution in reducing the amount of medicines being imported from abroad, stated Mr. Misgina Tekleab, Manage of the factory.

He further indicated that the factory which started producing medicines with the objective of providing them to the public at fare price in addition to reinforcing the country’s economic and industrial capacity. Mr. Midgina also explained that within 10 years it has reached to reliable level of sustainability.

He further indicated that the factory is producing 56 types of medicines in the form of drugs, syrup as well as powder including for malaria, different pains, influenza, TB, blood pressure, respiratory system much needed in Africa in general and here in particular.

Mr. Misgina also pointed out that negotiations have been continuing since 2010 to export medicines to Mozambique, Sudan, Uganda and Yemen.
The factory has also been playing due role in reducing the flow of sub-standard medicines to the country.

Azel Pharmaceutical Factory which was established in 2003 by the Eritrean Government in cooperation with Jordanian Medicine Factory has currently 270 employees.
