Haikota, 13 July 2013- The increased awareness of the society on the importance of health facilities and the increase medical follow-up by pregnant mothers in Haikota sub-zone has tremendously reduced mother and child mortality rate, health personnel from the sub-zone indicated.
Nurse Gebru Zere, head of Haikota health center, said that the continuous awareness increase of the society has been contributing in ensuring the health of the society and that as a result there is zero prevalence of diseases.
Dr. Leul Banteyirgaw, head of MOH in the region, on his part explained that the Health Ministry has been forming voluntary health workers in all villages aimed at ensuring the community receives enough medical treatment, and that significant change is being registered on the ground.
Likewise, Mr. Aregai Mebrahtu, head of Administration and Finance in the sub-zone, pointed out that the effort to reduce mother and child mortality rate is ongoing, and that the change so far registered if reinforcing factor for more efforts.
