Keren, 14 July 2013 – The construction of two water reservoirs which has been underway along Dearit River in the environs of Keren city on the basis of joint venture between the residents and members of the People’s Army has been finalized.

Mr. Bereket Amlesom, agriculture expert in Keren sub-zone, pointed out that the 4-month joint undertaking, which also involved the Administration of Anseba region and experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, was conducted with a view to meeting the city’s growing demand for potable water.

Maj. Woldu Gebretinsae, Commander of the members of the People’s Army in Keren, expressed appreciation for the active participation witnessed on the part of the residents, and that the experience acquired to this end is a stepping stone to further accomplishment.

Likewise, Mohammed Daar Tekhlies and Maj. Saleh Idris said that the timely conclusion of the process attests to the popular work potential resulting from the prevalence of harmony between communities and the People’s Army.

Moreover, Mr. Ogbatsion Redie said that water resources within the surrounding farms could be enriched following the impounding of remarkable water volume by one of the reservoirs.
