Asmara, 16 July 2013 – NUEW members residing in the UK have expressed readiness to back up national development endeavors on the basis of enhancing organizational capacity. They made the pledge on arrival at Asmara International Airport for the inauguration of a new training center for women in Mendefera, the project of which was fully funded by them.
Ms. Hadas Kifle, chairperson of the Union’s branch in the UK, told Erina that it has been witnessing growing organizational capacity, and that a fund of this type attests to it. She further pointed out that the center was put in place with a view to promoting the production capacity of women in the area, and expressed her colleagues’ satisfaction with the launching of the center.
Similarly, Ms. Nigisti Gebremeskel and Ms. Letezgi Mengisteab disclosed that the fund was accumulated on the basis of varying out several income-generating activities and fundraising, and that the major motive of the members is related to enabling needy women to support themselves.
The training center is due to be inaugurated on August 24, according to reports.
