Asmara, 19 July 2013 – Members of the President’s Office expressed satisfaction with donating blood on group basis. Among them, Mr. Amin Hassan, Mr. Ambasajir Tewoldebirhan and Ms. Winta Gebrekidan said that nothing gives higher moral satisfaction as saving the life of individuals through donating blood, and called on the citizenry to enhance volunteering to this end. They further voiced readiness to extend a helping hand to the National Blood Bank’s promotional efforts at individual level.
Mr. Ogbai Yohanes from the National Blood Bank explained that popular awareness in this regard in on the rise, especially among school communities, and that the shortage in the number of donors is witnessed in the summer season due to school vacation. However, the number of volunteers is generally on the rise, he added.
Mr. Haile Kifleyesus, head of information for the Blood Donors Club, disclosed that the pattern of volunteers has been classified on the bases of families, friendship and individuals as criteria, and that the prevailing norms of collaboration within the citizenry are an advantage in this regard. He also commended the commitment of club members.
