SWP gains momentum in Mensura sub-zone

Reports indicated that Summer Work Program (SWP) has gained momentum in Mensura sub-zone. Mr. Habtom Tekle, a teacher, indicated that such exposure is important in nurturing the norm of work among the young generation, and thereby ensuring remarkable input in national development. He also disclosed that the ongoing activates in the area involve soil and water conservation, afforestation, as well as environmental hygiene.

Mensura, 23 July 2013 – Reports indicated that Summer Work Program (SWP) has gained momentum in Mensura sub-zone. Mr. Habtom Tekle, a teacher, indicated that such exposure is important in nurturing the norm of work among the young generation, and thereby ensuring remarkable input in national development. He also disclosed that the ongoing activates in the area involve soil and water conservation, afforestation, as well as environmental hygiene.

Among students, Idris Mohammed, Finan Fitwi, Amna Mohammed-Ali and Sham Mohammed-Ibrahim said that active participation is being witnessed in the process, and asserted that they would enhance role for the realization of the cherished goals.

Mr. Merhawi Mizelo from the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone explained that the participants are playing significant role as regards restoring erosion-hit areas, and that subsequently terraces have been constructed on a total of 9 hectares, besides the digging of more holes for plantation of tree seedlings.

Similarly, Mr. Mahmoud Idris, head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, stated that the program is being implemented in the locality for the first time, and lauded the active popular participation being witnessed to this end.
