Annual festival of Eritrean community members in Scandinavia opens in Stockholm city

The 15th annual festival of Eritrean community members in Scandinavia opened today in Stockholm city witnessing the participation of more than 10,000 nationals from the respective countries and other areas of Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, among others.

Asmara, 25 July 2013 – The 15th annual festival of Eritrean community members in Scandinavia opened today in Stockholm city witnessing the participation of more than 10,000 nationals from the respective countries and other areas of Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, among others.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Alem Teklegiorgis, chairman of the community’s holidays coordinating committee, pointed out that the theme of the event conveys the role of Eritrean women in the armed struggle for independence and the nation-building process, and that a seminar to this end would be conducted by the Chairman of the NUEW as part of the event.

Moreover, Mr. Yonas Manna, Executive of Embassy Affairs in Scandinavia, gave briefings as regards the nation’s endeavors towards ensuring economic freedom and social justice, and explained that the role of the community members is vital in adding color to the festival.
