The inhabitants of Gogne sub-zone asserted that they would enhance role as regards prevention of communicable diseases.
Gogne, 25 July 2013 – The inhabitants of Gogne sub-zone asserted that they would enhance role as regards prevention of communicable diseases. They further indicated that the community has been conducting popularization activities focusing on promotion of environmental hygiene practice, and that such efforts have given rise to betterment of community health.
Mr. Bahabelom Tiumzgi, head of the health center in the sub-zone, explained that community-led environmental hygiene campaigns have made remarkable impact in doing away with communicable diseases, and disclosed that the inhabitants of 12 villages have become beneficiaries of soak-pit latrines.
Mr. Efrem Berhane, head of environmental hygiene in the health center, stated on his part that gratifying achievement has been made pertaining to sanitation in remote areas on the basis of joint ventures between the Ministry and communities.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Yacob Bino and Ms. Meryem Yacob lauded the health center’s community sensitization activities to this end, and called on fellow inhabitants to extend a helping hand for the realization of the cherished goal.
