The Administration of Asmat sub-zone has called for enhanced community role as regards bequeathing national values to the young generation. It made the call at a meeting with youths in the locality who made tour of historical sites in the area, including trenches and other traces of the armed struggle for independence.

Asmat, 08 August 2013 – The Administration of Asmat sub-zone has called for enhanced community role as regards bequeathing national values to the young generation. It made the call at a meeting with youths in the locality who made tour of historical sites in the area, including trenches and other traces of the armed struggle for independence.

Heading the meeting, Mr. Abubaker Mohammed-Jimie, Administrator of the sub-zone, noted the importance of such tour’s input in popularizing national values, and called on the participants to step up participation in the national development process. He further disclosed that a number of development programs have been implemented in the sub-zone making significant impact in improving the livelihood of the inhabitants, among which the construction of 3 dams and 10 schools are worth mentioning.

On their part, Mr. Ibrahim Osman and Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, veteran fighters, gave extensive briefings to the participants of the meeting focusing on the heroic feats registered in the armed struggled for independence and safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. They also called on youths to keep intact the values thereof.

The youths on their part expressed satisfaction with the tour, and called for sustainability in organizing trips of this type.
