Number of female blood donors witnessing growth in Central region

The National Blood Bank pointed out that the number of female blood donors is on the rise in the Central region following the promotional campaign conducted thereof by the NUEW branch.

Asmara, 08 August 2013 – The National Blood Bank pointed out that the number of female blood donors is on the rise in the Central region following the promotional campaign conducted thereof by the NUEW branch.

Ms. Segen Teklai, head of the NUEW branch in Sembel Administrative area, disclosed that the process of blood donation by members of the Union is continuing in the form of a campaign, and that further efforts are being made to nurture the practice as a norm.

Mr. Hailezgi Tadese from the National Blood Bank indicated that the number of volunteer blood donors is increasing, and lauded the initiative taken by the NUEW members.

Among the blood donors, Ms. Tirhas Kehase and Ms. Girmawit Daniel noted the vitality of such group-based contribution in maintaining consistency of blood supply, and urged the Union to enhance efforts in this regard.

Reports indicate that the members of the Union who donated blood are from the Administration areas of Paradizo, Tsetserat, Sembel and Godaif, and that the campaign would continue in other quarters of the capital.
