Soil and water conservation ventures in Molqi sub-zone witnessing positive impact

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Molqi sub-zone stated that soil and water conservation ventures in the area have witnessed positive impact giving rise to betterment in environmental stability and enrichment of water resources.

Molqi, 08 August 2013 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Molqi sub-zone stated that soil and water conservation ventures in the area have witnessed positive impact giving rise to betterment in environmental stability and enrichment of water resources.

Mr. Woldeyesus Tekie, head of the branch office, disclosed that around 830 Km-long terraces have been constructed on 10 hectares on the basis of the popular campaigns conducted since last February. He further indicated that the undertaking, in which participants of the SWP demonstrated active participation, has also registered remarkable outcome as regards restoration of erosion-hit areas and enhancing soil fertility.

Mr. Teklai Berhane, forestry and wildlife expert in the branch office, pointed out that around 1,780 meters of terraces have been built through the Program, in addition to the collecting of 180 cubic meters of stone.
