Participants of SWP accomplish effective development tasks in Forto-Sawa and Agordat sub-zones

The Administration of Forto-Sawa and Agordat sub-zones pointed out that participants of SWP have accomplished effective afforestation as well as soil and water conservation activities in the localities.

Agordat, 12 August 2013 – The Administration of Forto-Sawa and Agordat sub-zones pointed out that participants of SWP have accomplished effective afforestation as well as soil and water conservation activities in the localities.

According to the pertinent agriculture experts and coordinators, significant achievements have been registered as regards restoration of erosion-hit areas, while a number of tree seedlings were planted and various dirt roads renovated.

Among the coordinators, Mr. Idris Adal and Isaias Rusom expressed conviction that the undertaking would make remarkable impact in ensuring environmental stability.

Out of the participants, Bana Maekele, Saleh Idris, Mohammed Abdulaziz and Ruta Yohanes voiced satisfaction with taking part in the Program, upon which exposure their awareness regarding environmental issues has increased.

Moreover, Mr. Tesfai Estifanos, head of the Program’s branch in Agordat sub-zone, disclosed that around 5,000 tree seedlings have been planted in the locality, and called on the inhabitants to extend a helping hand pertaining to their follow-up.

Meanwhile, similar accomplishments were made in Emni-Haili sub-zone on the basis of the SWP. Ms. Semhar Tesfai, forestry and wildlife expert, and Mr. Bereket Negash, coordinator, said that active participation was witnessed in the process, and called on communities to make the necessary follow-up on the planted tree seedlings. The Administrator of Emni-Haili sub-zone, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed lauded the active participation demonstrated to this end.
