The Association of Dairy Farmers in Debarwa town and its environs indicated that it is striving to raise milk production.
Debarwa, 17 August 2013 – The Association of Dairy Farmers in Debarwa town and its environs indicated that it is striving to raise milk production. It made the remark at a recent assessment meeting, during which it was stated that more than 92,000 liters of milk were jointly made available by the farmers for the residents over the past 8 months, besides the sending of over 22,000 liters for sale in the Central region.
Reports indicated that the Association members are in a position to own shares worth over 750,000 Nakfa in various dairy farming-related institutions in the region, besides the construction of an accommodation for milk processing in Debarwa.
In the course of the meeting, the farmers lauded the active role of agriculture experts thereof, and put forth views pertaining to several issues.
Dr. Ogbazgi Kifle, head of animal resource in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, expressed appreciation for the Association’s commitment towards raising shares and ensuring equitability of opportunities, and advised the members to further focus on production of green feed.
Among customers of the Association, Ms. Genet Gebremichael said that the farmers could ensure sustainability and growth in milk production following their initiative to work as an Association.
