Gogne, 19 August 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region called on mothers to keep intact the norm of breast feeding. It made the call at a promotional meeting with the inhabitants of Gogne, during which the all-round significance of breast feeding was comprehensively addressed and the importance of community sensitization to this end was described vital in remote areas.
Mr. Sultan Hagos, head of promotions in the branch office, called on mothers to avoid additional diet for their infants during the first 6 months of breast feeding and do away with the harmful cultural practices thereof. He further pointed out that the immunity and branch development of infants is highly correlated with breast feeding.
The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction with the educational piece presented, and said that they would work hard for the popularization of such norm.
