A new training center for women worth more than 28 million Nakfa which was put in place in Mendefera city in collaboration between the NUEW and the members residing in the UK was inaugurated today.
Mendefera, 24 August 2013 – A new training center for women worth more than 28 million Nakfa which was put in place in Mendefera city in collaboration between the NUEW and the members residing in the UK was inaugurated today.
The Center comprises accommodations for 10 offices, training, computer lab, sales outlet, meeting, daycare and cafeteria, among others facilities.
The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Efrem Gebrekristos, Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of Political Affairs at the PFDJ, the Chairperson of the NUEW, Ms. Leul Gebreab, religious leaders, community elders, members of the Union residing in the UK and invited guests took part in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director of the Southern region Administration, Ms. Fana Tesfamariam, pointed out that the historical nature of the ceremony lies on its coincidence with National Festival 2013. She also explained that the center would provide groundwork for implementation of major plans of the Union, in addition to commending the initiative of the members as regards the putting in place of such facility.
Likewise, Ms. Salha Adem, head of the Union’s branch in the region, said that such initiative attests to the prevailing attachment of nationals residing abroad with the Homeland.
Moreover, the ceremony witnessed bestowal of souvenirs by the Union’s representatives from the 12 sub-zonal Administrations of the region and plantation of tree seedlings within the compound of the center, besides cultural performances by Aser Cultural Troupe.
