Flooding victims in Hashenkit Administrative area obtain material support

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in Haikota sub-zone indicated that it has extended material support to flooding victims in Hashenkit Administrative area in collaboration with the Administration of Gash-Barka region.

Haikota, 28 August 2013 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in Haikota sub-zone indicated that it has extended material support to flooding victims in Hashenkit Administrative area in collaboration with the Administration of Gash-Barka region.

Among the beneficiaries, Mr. Saleh Mahmoud Mohammed, Ms. Himan Kinfe and Mr. Haseb Mohammed Adem pointed out that the flooding which happened as a result of destruction of a diversion canal gave rise to damage of remarkable assets and displacement of a number of community members. They went on to assert that the support is significant in their rehabilitation.

Mr. Yirgalem Gebretsadik, head of the branch office, said that the Ministry has been demonstrating commitment as regards alleviating the impact of such incidents on the basis of providing the necessary supplies. He further disclosed that the supplies include food, domestic utensils and housing materials.

A total of 20 houses were destroyed, while various properties were washed away by the flooding that took place on the 5th of this month.
