Farmers in Laelai-Gash sub-zone reinforcing endeavors as regards rain-fed farming
Augaro, 01 September 2013 – Farmers in Laelai-Gash sub-zone said that they are reinforcing endeavors as regards rain-fed farming with a view to ensuring increased harvest. They further disclosed that the sowing process was accomplished timely, and that the area is witnessing abundant amount of rainfall with an adequate distribution.
Among the farmers, Ms. Zeineb Haile, Gebrehiwet Andom, Ms. Mihret Woldai and Mr. Mebrahtu Woldai expressed satisfaction with the tilling service rendered by the tractors in the area at a reasonable price. They also stated that the community would put up added efforts so as to attain bountiful harvest.
Mr. Teklu Mengis, agronomist in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, pointed out that plantations are in a much better condition especially in the areas of Meflech, Sheshebit, Antore, Mikuti and Mai-Kokah as farmers demonstrated extra flexibility in connection with the delay of rainfall at the early stage.
