Stepped-up endeavors being exerted towards enhancing managerial capacity of health institutions: Minister

The Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nur-Hussein, pointed out that stepped-up endeavors are being exerted towards enhancing managerial capacity of health institutions through introduction of integrated approach at sub-zonal level. She made the remark at a meeting with health professionals in Gash-Barka region which was held in Barentu, during which it was stated that the Ministry is working on priority basis so as to ensure administrational excellence, and that the new administrative strategy is part of such initiative.

Barentu, 02 September 2013 – The Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nur-Hussein, pointed out that stepped-up endeavors are being exerted towards enhancing managerial capacity of health institutions through introduction of integrated approach at sub-zonal level. She made the remark at a meeting with health professionals in Gash-Barka region which was held in Barentu, during which it was stated that the Ministry is working on priority basis so as to ensure administrational excellence, and that the new administrative strategy is part of such initiative.

The Minister further indicated that gratifying accomplishments have been registered as regards prevention and control of various diseases, expanding service outreach, ensuring sustainability of medical supplies, as well as human resource development, and that future undertaking would focus on promoting service quality.

In a research paper he presented at the meeting, Mr. Tewolde Yohanes, Director of the Policy and Planning branch in the Ministry, explained that adherence to sub-zones as administrative units is a sound strategy for implementation of mapped out programs. He also called on the participants of the meeting to exert further efforts for the realization of the cherished goal.

The participants of the meeting put forth views regarding several issues which were also addressed by Ms. Amna. Moreover, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mohammed Hamd, expressed the Administration’s readiness to collaborate in the implementation of the Ministry’s programs.
