Health station in Keren making significant input as regards promoting mother and child wellbeing: Report

The beneficiaries of the health station in Waliku area, Keren city, pointed out that it is making significant input as regards promoting mother and child wellbeing. They further indicated that community awareness regarding various health issues and the number of visitors to the health station is on the rise following the launching of community sensitization and promotional activities by the medical staff.

Keren, 04 September 2013 – The beneficiaries of the health station in Waliku area, Keren city, pointed out that it is making significant input as regards promoting mother and child wellbeing. They further indicated that community awareness regarding various health issues and the number of visitors to the health station is on the rise following the launching of community sensitization and promotional activities by the medical staff.

Among the residents of the area, Ms. Beyanit Haimen, Ms. Tirhas Afwerki and Mr. Mohammed Idris Mohammed voiced satisfaction with the service the health station is rendering, and said that the community’s awareness pertaining to communicable diseases, environmental hygiene and harmful customary practices has shown marked growth.

Ms. Mihret Haile, head of the health station, stated that such achievement could be registered through focused promotional and community sensitization efforts which also targeted maternal and child care. She also called on mothers to effectively utilize the available medical service during pregnancy and the community members to enhance role to this end.
