Gala-Nefhi sub-zone: Chicks distributed to breadwinner mothers

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Central region indicated that a total of 1,450 chicks have been distributed at fair price to breadwinner mothers in Gala-Nefhi sub-zone with a view to raising the income of such families.

Asmara, 06 September 2013 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Central region indicated that a total of 1,450 chicks have been distributed at fair price to breadwinner mothers in Gala-Nefhi sub-zone with a view to raising the income of such families.

Dr. Idris Ali, head of livestock resource in the region, disclosed that the program is part of the ongoing endeavors in this connection, and that it is due to continue in the future. He further pointed out that the program is witnessing gratifying outcome, and expressed conviction that the opportunity is a significant opportunity for the mothers to improve their livelihood.

Likewise, Mr. Niguse Siele, head of livestock resource in the sub-zone, stated that chicks were allocated at the rate of 25 per household, and that the collaboration of the sub-zonal Administration in the process was remarkable.

Among the beneficiaries, Ms. Abeba Tesfamariam and Ms. Abadit Farzai expressed satisfaction with the opportunity, and said that they would strive to improve their financial capability.
