Anseba region: Ministry calls on inhabitants to enhance participation in backing families of martyrs

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in Anseba region has called on the inhabitants to step up participation in national endeavors of improving the livelihood of families of martyrs based on individual and group input.

Asmara, 11 September 2013 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in Anseba region has called on the inhabitants to step up participation in national endeavors of improving the livelihood of families of martyrs based on individual and group input.

Mr. Girmai Bekuretsion, head of the branch office, said that the sustained support being extended to the families of fallen heroes by the government, as well as nationals inside the country and abroad attests to their readiness to honor the trust of martyrs. He further indicated that such venture should continue in an integrated manner.

Accordingly, more than 20 million Nakfa was paid in benefit scheme to 12,000 families of martyrs in the region during the first 6 months of the current year, while a number of nationals residing abroad extended over 1 million Nakfa supporting 135 families of martyrs, 79 of which have already been paid. The payment process was accomplished based on the branch offices in Hagaz, Elabered and Hamelmalo, as well as outreach service in remote areas.

Meanwhile, 66 families of fallen heroes were rehabilitated in livestock worth  a total expenditure of 1.5 million Nakfa during the specified period, besides the groundwork laid for 8 orphans to be patronized on the basis of group home.
