Apprentice teachers obtain special training targeting Bidawyet language

Reports indicated that a total of 68 apprentice teachers are engaged in a special training targeting the Bidawyet language in Forto-Sawa with a view to meeting the growing demand for teachers in mother tongue-based education.

Forto-Sawa, 14 September 2013 – Reports indicated that a total of 68 apprentice teachers are engaged in a special training targeting the Bidawyet language in Forto-Sawa with a view to meeting the growing demand for teachers in mother tongue-based education.

Mr. Mussie Kidane, coordinator of the training, pointed out that it involves pedagogical and other dimensions.

Mr. Mohammed-Ali Ibrahim, head of the Education Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region, indicated that the training is scheduled to continue every summer, and that one batch is expected to complete it in three phases. He further called on the trainees to do their level best for the realization of the cherished goal.

Moreover, Mr. Hagos Adhana, head of Basic Education in the Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, disclosed that the training course was organized on the basis of joint collaboration between the two regional Administrations, and called for stepped-up participation on the part of stakeholders as well as beneficiaries.

Parents commended the initiative taken to reinforce mother tongue education focusing on the Hidareb ethnic group.
