The inhabitants of Barentu sub-zone have expressed satisfaction with water supply for livestock following the impounding of ample water volume by the ponds in the locality.

Barentu, 14 September 2013 – The inhabitants of Barentu sub-zone have expressed satisfaction with water supply for livestock following the impounding of ample water volume by the ponds in the locality.

Among the herdsmen, Sadam Mohammed, Mandu Adas, Kokan Deglel, Ali Al-Amin and Araso Berhe said that water resources have secured abundant reserve in line with the lavish rainfall being witnessed, thus giving rise to enrichment of grazing areas. They further indicated that communities could subsequently save energy in connection with domestic chores and herding.

A total of 22 ponds capable of ensuring a water reserve of about 750,000 cubic meters collectively were constructed in the sub-zone with a view to meeting the demand for livestock, according to reports.
