Call made for judicious utilization of water

The inhabitants of Asmara called for through follow-up by concerned institutions for judicious utilization of water by the residents.

Asmara, 15 September 2013 – The inhabitants of Asmara called for through follow-up by concerned institutions for judicious utilization of water by the residents.

Mr. Tewolde Gebreab and Ms. Lemlem Gebrewold called on residents to make prudent utilization of water that is being distributed and use dirty water for latrines instead of spilling on the streets.

Likewise Ms. Abeba Gebreyesus, resident Edaga-Hamus administrative area, and Ms. Gidei Gaim, resident of Aba-Sahul administrative area, recalled the history of Asmara during which the Municipality used to control the city’s sanitation, and called the city water management to reinforce its activities to that end.

Mr. Eyob Abraha, EDF representative of water distribution center in Mai-Temenai, disclosed the unwise water wastage in the area, and that the concerned institutions shoulder the responsibility to minimize the unnecessary wastage of water.

The Ministry of Soil, Water and Environment on its part called Asmara residents to reinforce participation and make behavioral change with regards water usage.
