Vegetable farmers express readiness to prudently utilize water from Halib-Mentel Dam

The vegetable farmers in Halib-Mentel expressed readiness to prudently utilize water from Halib-Mentel dam.

Halib-Mentel, 15 September 2013- The vegetable farmers in Halib-Mentel expressed readiness to prudently utilize water from Halib-Mentel dam.

From the vegetable farmers Mr. Paulos Fadega indicated that through water from the dam their vegetables are in good condition, and that they would diligently work for expanding vegetable farming and conduct judicious water use.

Mr. Zemihret Tesfazgi, on his part noted that their produce beyond satisfying the market in their area is contributing in stabilizing the market in their region, and that the water the dam is holding is being stimulus for more endeavors.

Likewise, Mr. Beyene Kidane, Administrator of Halib-Mentel administrative area, indicated that 10 hectares of land is being cultivated through water from the dam, and that the farmers are being encouraged to expand their vegetable farms.

He further called on inhabitants to make judicious use of water from the dam and conduct necessary follow-up on crops that are in good condition until harvest.
