Farmers engaged in integrated farming activities in Tessenei-Aligidir Agricultural Project, which is fed through the diversion canal from Aligidir, indicated that the plantations are in good condition.
Tessenei, 16 September 2013 – Farmers engaged in integrated farming activities in Tessenei-Aligidir Agricultural Project, which is fed through the diversion canal from Aligidir, indicated that the plantations are in good condition. They further pointed out that renovation of the project’s infrastructural facilities has given rise to raise production capacity.
Among the farmers, Ms. Genet Tesfalidet, Mr. Seadeen Ibrahim and Mr. Mahmoud Mohammed Hamd explained that the dam and diversion canal within the project has by and large encouraged agricultural activities. Moreover, the farmers said that they would sustain stepped-up efforts for better output.
Mr. Yamane Gebretinsae, Project manager, stated that the re-launching of the project was began in 2009 through undertaking major activities of infrastructural renovation and introducing organizational changes, thus enabling the inhabitants of Tessenei, Aligidir, Sitmo, Telata-Asher and Enjihai become the direct beneficiaries.
Accordingly, around 2,600 hectares of the project have been cultivated with sorghum and sesame this summer.
