The inhabitants of Gogne sub-zone said that seminars by the Police and stakeholders have made significant impact in raising community awareness as regards law, and hence the dropping trend in instances of crime.

Gogne, 16 September 2013 – The inhabitants of Gogne sub-zone said that seminars by the Police and stakeholders have made significant impact in raising community awareness as regards law, and hence the dropping trend in instances of crime. They made the remark at a meeting with Police commanders, during which it was stated that the majority of the instances of crime are attributed to lack of popular awareness pertaining to law, and that the accomplishments registered are in line with the sound strategy.

Speaking at the meeting, Maj. Melake Gebremariam, Commander of the Police Force in Barentu city, noted the major role of communities in nurturing virtuous youths.

In the same vein, Corporal Bitsue-Amlak Andebirhan, head of investigation in Barentu, called on community magistrates to enhance role as regards promoting popular awareness in connection with law.

The participants of the meeting asserted that they would step up collaboration in crime prevention.
