The Agriculture Ministry branch in Mendefera sub-zone has distributed sprinkler irrigation equipment worth 4 million and 300 thousand Nakfa to 29 exemplary farmers.
Mendefera, 21 September 2013- The Agriculture Ministry branch in Mendefera sub-zone has distributed sprinkler irrigation equipment worth 4 million and 300 thousand Nakfa to 29 exemplary farmers.
During training he provided on 19 September for the beneficiary farmers in Mendefera as regards operation and installment of the equipment, Eng. Simon Abraha indicated the advantage of using modern equipment in farming activities in production increase and minimizing labor and water wastage.
From the exemplary farmers, Mr. Efrem Abraha pointed out that he has already began cultivating selected wheat through the equipment, and that he is satisfied with the outcome he is registering.
Likewise, Mr. Maekele Tesfamariam, head of economic development in the sub-zone, said that the Government is exerting efforts to develop farm produce through applying modern farming system, and called on farmers to make maximum use of the equipment they are equipped with.
Reports also indicate that exemplary farmers from the sub-zones of Dubarwa, Mai-Aini, Dekemhare and Adi-Quala have received similar equipment.
