Keren, 23 September 2013 – The inhabitants of Keren sub-zone said that popular soil and water conservation efforts in the area underway for around 5 months have made commendable impact.
They made the remark at a community-led meeting, during which it was stated that water resources are witnessing improvement as regarels capacity.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Yohanes Tesfai, Administrator of the 07-Administrative area in Keren city, noted the significance of carrying out afforestation activities hand-in-hand with soil and water conservation ventures, and disclosed that exemplary villages regarding management of wood enclosures would be awarded.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Mekonen Gebretinsae and Mr. Eyob Hamd explained that accomplishment of this type has by and large encouraged the agricultural process, and called on fellow inhabitants to extend a helping hand towards popularization of judicious use of water.
