The Education Ministry’s branch in Central region has called on parents to enhance follow-up on children’s academic pursuit with a view to registering better scholastic accomplishment in the current academic year.
Asmara, 24 September 2013 – The Education Ministry’s branch in Central region has called on parents to enhance follow-up on children’s academic pursuit with a view to registering better scholastic accomplishment in the current academic year.
Mr. Mesfin Woldesilassie, in charge of follow-up as regards basic education in the branch office, disclosed that a total of 93,599 students whose educational levels ranging from kindergarten to Secondary School have been registered for the current academic year, besides the supply of learning materials ensured at fair price.
Moreover, Mr. Yohanes Solomon, coordinator of High Schools in the region, indicated that the regional Administration made free supply of leaning materials for 10th and 11th graders who took part in the SWP as a token for their valuable input to this end. He further called for stepped-up parental role in the teaching-learning process.
The beneficiary students lauded the initiative taken by the Administration of the Central region to promote student enthusiasm, and asserted that they would do their level best in their academic endeavors.
Mr. Mengisteab Teklemichael, director of Barka Secondary School in Asmara, and Mr. Yemane Gebredingl, Administrator of Isaac Tewoldemedhin Secondary School, also Asmara city, equally noted that the follow-up of parents on student activities in general is an important prerequisite for the nurturing of dynamic students.
Reports indicate that there exist around 290 schools in the Central region rendering services from kindergarten to High School education.
