New pond in Aitera area secures significant water reserve for livestock

A recently constructed new pond in Aitera area, Laelai-Gash sub-zone, has ensured significant water reserve for livestock.

Augaro, 25 September 2013 – A recently constructed new pond in Aitera area, Laelai-Gash sub-zone, has ensured significant water reserve for livestock.

Mr. Sahle Girmatsion from the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone indicated that the pond would serve the villages of Dersenei, Aitera, Hadish-Adi, Geza-Gobo and Andelyai. He further stated that the water demand for animals could be met as the pond has stored around 70,000 cubic meters, in addition to the impact it has made as regards enriching water resources.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Teklemariam Hibtizgi, Ms. Ogbet Hans and Bahlibi Tesfatsion said that the communities used to experience serious water shortage for livestock, and that they are presently in a position to save time and energy in this connection following the construction of such pond.
