Eritrean community members in Denmark extend material support to schools in Southern region

Eritrean community members in Denmark have extended material support to schools in the Southern region with a view to promoting the impact of the teaching-learning process.

Mendefera, 27 September 2013 – Eritrean community members in Denmark have extended material support to schools in the Southern region with a view to promoting the impact of the teaching-learning process.

The support comprises a total of 560 learning materials such as desks, chairs and boards, in addition to 700 books donated to the Secondary School in Debarwa. The nationals also backed needy students in a school in Mendefera financially.

Mr. Tewolde Abraham, head of basic education in the Education Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, explained that such support attests to the prevailing attachment of nationals abroad with the Homeland. He further called on them to nurture such societal attribute among the young members of the community.

Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Daniel Gebrele’ul, chairman of the Eritrean community in Denmark, said that the nationals would continue to extend support of this type in the future.

Reports indicate that the Eritrean community has been supporting nationals since the days of the armed struggle for independence, and that it has backed more than 25 schools in the Southern region so far.
