Stepped-up efforts are being exerted to give added impetus to drip irrigation activities in the environs of Ziban-Seb’o and Harnet Dams in Emni-Haili sub-zone, the total estimation of which stands at 70 hectares.
Dirko, 27 September 2013 – Stepped-up efforts are being exerted to give added impetus to drip irrigation activities in the environs of Ziban-Seb’o and Harnet Dams in Emni-Haili sub-zone, the total estimation of which stands at 70 hectares.
Mr. Tesfalidet Tesfayohannes, managing director of Gash-Setit Construction Company, disclosed that preparation of the potential farmland has already been concluded, while installation of equipment is underway, and thus the conclusion of 80% of the task.
Among the local inhabitants, Mr. Mohammed Hagos, Mr. Abdulkhaliq Hamedzien and Mr. Siraj Abdulwasie pointed out that they would strive to improve their livelihood through effectively utilizing the community-focused projects. They also expressed conviction that such agricultural venture would raise agricultural output in the area.
Mr. Zemichael Tsegai, an engineer in charge of the projects’ follow-up, said that a total of 75 farmers have been provided the necessary training as regards technical management of the facilities being put in place.
Reports indicate that there exist 11 dams and 10 ponds in Emni-Haili sub-zone, and that an integrated farm in Dirko has attained a 3-time annual harvest.
