Administration of Central region extends incentive to athletes and coaches

The Administration of the Central region has extended financial incentive to 4 coaches and 94 professional athletes, 36 of whom are females.

Asmara, 28 September 2013 – The Administration of the Central region has extended financial incentive to 4 coaches and 94 professional athletes, 36 of whom are females.

Accordingly, the athletes have become beneficiaries of 1,000 Nakfa to 3,000 Nakfa, while athletes who won in international tournaments and the coaches were each awarded 5,000 Nakfa.

Speaking at the ceremony at the City Hall, Mr. Endrias Asmerom, Sports Commissar in the region, lauded the Administration’s initiative as regards encouraging sports activities, besides the effort it is exerting to base the development of such activities in communities.

Among the athletes, Teklemariam Medhin and Embeytey Belai expressed satisfaction with the financial input, and said that they would do their level best to demonstrate triumph in their career.

In the same vein, Isaac Netserab and Henok Gebremedhin, coaches, lauded the encouraging measures being taken by the people and the government, and asserted that they would work hard for remarkable victories in international competitions.

In closing remarks, the Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, stated that there exists groundwork along with enthusiasm for nurturing dynamic sportspersons in the region.

He also called on the athletes to upgrade their capacity upon exploiting such opportunities.
