Ginda residents to step up role as regards malaria prevention

The residents of Ginda town said that they would step up participation in activities focusing on prevention of malaria such as eradication of mosquito breeding sites.

Ginda, 01 October 2013 – The residents of Ginda town said that they would step up participation in activities focusing on prevention of malaria such as eradication of mosquito breeding sites.

They further pointed out that such popular undertakings have made significant impact in promoting community health and environmental hygiene.

Among the residents, Mr. Hussein Idris, Ms. Halefa Gebremichael, Ms. Bekita Ibrahim and Mr. Osman Ibrahim indicated that future undertakings should target the spraying of mosquito killers in the swamp areas along Mai-Adkemom River crossing the town. They also stated that further community campaigns to this end would concentrate on the swamp areas along the river.

Mr. Yohanes Tsegai from the Regional Referral Hospital in Ginda expressed appreciation for the community’s active participation in the eradication of malaria, and said that pregnant women and children of age below 5 should be prioritized users of mosquito nets.
