Water reserve in Keren sub-zone’s micro-dams making significant input as regards promoting biodiversity
The inhabitants of Keren sub-zone said that the water reserve in the micro-dams within is making significant input as regards promoting biodiversity, besides ensuring a potential for potable water supply and their impact in enriching underground water resource.
Keren, 09 October 2013 – The inhabitants of Keren sub-zone said that the water reserve in the micro-dams within is making significant input as regards promoting biodiversity, besides ensuring a potential for potable water supply and their impact in enriching underground water resource.
Accordingly, the condition has encouraged conservation of indigenous trees and new afforestation ventures, thus giving rise to betterment in environmental stability.
Moreover, the inhabitants explained that popular soil and water conservation undertakings have had a remarkable input as regards preventing the micro-dams from being filled by alluvial deposit, in addition to raising soil fertility and restoration of erosion-hit areas.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Tenbele Idris-Nor, Mr. Mohammed-Ali Adem and Mr. Mahder Ramadan stated that the micro-dams secure ample water supply for humans and livestock.
