Central region: Needy breadwinner women rehabilitated by Ministry witnessing improvement of livelihood

Reports indicated that needy breadwinner women rehabilitated by the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the Central region are witnessing improvement of livelihood.

Asmara, 10 October 2013 – Reports indicated that needy breadwinner women rehabilitated by the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the Central region are witnessing improvement of livelihood.

Ms. Meskela Kesete, Ms. Ogba Tesfatsion, Ms. Alem Tesfai, Ms. Muzit Mohammed-Birhan and Ms. Zaid Gebrehiwet pointed out that each of them became beneficiaries of 20,000 Nakfa, on the basis of which they could start small-scale mechanizing businesses and thereby raise the income of their families. They further expressed satisfaction with the initiative taken by the Ministry, and said that they would strive to improve their livelihood further.

Ms. Rishan Tekle, Mr. Estifanos Tesfai and Ms. Yirgalem Siyum from the Ministry’s sub-zonal branch offices in Arbaete-Asmara, Akria and Aba-Shaul respectively pointed out that they have been carrying out follow-up tasks on the women’s business activities in collaboration with local Administrations and rehabilitation committees. They also expressed appreciation for the development of the businesses.
