Community rehabilitation workers and Area administrators in Hagaz sub-zone called upon to enhance role in rehabilitation of the Disabled

The Administration of Hagaz sub-zone has called on community rehabilitation workers and Area administrators in the locality to enhance role as regards rehabilitation of disabled nationals and promoting their health.

Hagaz, 12 October 2013 – The Administration of Hagaz sub-zone has called on community rehabilitation workers and Area administrators in the locality to enhance role as regards rehabilitation of disabled nationals and promoting their health.

Speaking at a meeting she conducted to this end, Ms. Amna Haj, Administrator of the sub-zone, pointed out that the stigma against mentally ill people and the like should be addressed sufficiently, in addition to the required efforts to enable such nationals become beneficiaries of social services.

Ms. Genet Habte, head of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare’s branch in the sub-zone, disclosed that the accomplishments registered so far during the current year pertain to benefit schemes for families of martyrs and the backing as well as rehabilitation of needy students, street children and orphans. She further noted the vitality of the role of community rehabilitation workers and Area administrators in the process.

Likewise, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, head of social service in the sub-zone, urged community rehabilitation workers and Area administrators to conduct close observation on the needs of needy inhabitants and orphans.

The participants of the meeting expressed readiness to step up efforts in this regard, and called for more seminars and trainings that could raise their knowledge.

Reports indicate that there exist more than 80 community rehabilitation workers in Hagaz sub-zone who started their activities since the year 2004.
