Central region: Ministry awards exemplary veteran teachers

In connection with the commemoration of World Teachers Day on October 12, the Education Ministry’s branch in the Central region has awarded gold medals and certificates of merit to 90 exemplary veteran teachers who served for more than 40 years.

Asmara, 14 October 2013 – In connection with the commemoration of World Teachers Day on October 12, the Education Ministry’s branch in the Central region has awarded gold medals and certificates of merit to 90 exemplary veteran teachers who served for more than 40 years.

Speaking at the ceremony ,Ms. Halima Mohammed, head of the branch office, lauded the role of the Teachers’ Association and the sub-branch office in South-eastern Asmara as regards facilitating such initiative. She further called on the rest sub-zonal branches to emulate it, and disclosed that there is a plan to award teachers, school directors and supervisors who demonstrated excellence in their career.

Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Woldemichael Asmelash, head of the Teachers Association branch in the region, noted the importance of supporting and training teachers with a view to raising their production capacity, besides the significance of nurturing enthusiasm among young teachers.

Among the winners of the award, Mr. Andebirhan Gebrehiwet, Ms. Meaza Isaac, Mr. Idris Debesai and Mr. Bereket Yohanes expressed satisfaction with honorary credit, and said that it would have vital impact in encouraging professional commitment on the part of young teachers.
