Beneficiaries of sprinkler irrigation apparatus in Debarwa sub-zone assert readiness to strive for bountiful harvest

A total of 38 beneficiaries of sprinkler irrigation apparatus in Debarwa sub-zone, which comprise irrigation farmers, have asserted readiness to strive for bountiful harvest.

Debarwa, 17 October 2013 – A total of 38 beneficiaries of sprinkler irrigation apparatus in Debarwa sub-zone, which comprise irrigation farmers, have asserted readiness to strive for bountiful harvest.

Among the farmers, Mr. Girmai Zeratsion and Mr. Habtesilasie Sibhatleab pointed out that the merits of the irrigation technique include economical consumption of water and fuel, and said that they would do their level best to further level of production taking the opportunity as a stepping stone.

Mr. Debesai Habtemariam, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, disclosed that there exist more than 740 irrigation farmers in the locality, and that the beneficiaries were selected on the basis of the criteria they fulfilled in connection with cultivation of select wheat seed and other issues. He further called on the farmers to back up national endeavors of ensuring food security.
