Prevalence of communicable diseases in Afabet sub-zone on the decline

At a meeting conducted as regards sanitation in Afabet sub-zone it was disclosed that the death rate of children below five years of age that has been witnessed has been drasticully reduced.

Afabte, 19 October 2013- At a meeting conducted as regards sanitation in Afabet sub-zone it was disclosed that the death rate of children below five years of age that has been witnessed has been drasticully reduced.

During the meeting the sanitation committee at Mihdaf Administrative area indicated that encouraging results have been registered with the program to introduce latrines in all villages, and that the program would continue.

Mr. Abraham Kidane, head of social services in the sub-zone, pointed out that thanks to the rigorous campaign undertaken the awareness of the inhabitants regarding communicable diseases has been enhanced, and that it has been possible to reduce the prevalence.

The inhabitants on their part stated that the incidence of communicable diseases due to lack of sanitation has been reduced due to the awareness raising campaigns thus provided.
