Community awareness regarding malaria prevention on the rise in Mensura sub-zone: Report

The Health Ministry’s branch in Mensura sub-zone indicated that community awareness regarding malaria prevention has shown visible increase in the locality following the conducting of community sensitization activities and promotional campaigns.

Mensura, 22 October 2013 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Mensura sub-zone indicated that community awareness regarding malaria prevention has shown visible increase in the locality following the conducting of community sensitization activities and promotional campaigns.

In a meeting he conducted with the inhabitants, Mr. Sultan Hagos, head of information and promotion in the branch office, stated that instances of malaria are witnessing remarkable decline thanks to active community participation demonstrated to this end. He also called for sustained popular initiative in this connection.

Mr. Teklu Eyasu, head of the branch office, pointed out that the accomplishments registered pertaining to distribution of impregnated mosquito nets and spray of anti-mosquito chemical have given rise to a positive impact.

Among the participants of the meeting, Sheikh Ibrahim Mohammed Taha and Mr. Kibrom Misgina expressed appreciation for the sensitizational activities that were fulfilled on the basis of outreach strategies. Continued endeavors of this type are necessary for still more gratifying outcome, they added.
