Dairy farmers in Debarwa sub-zone said that they have been exerting stepped-up endeavors with a view to raising production, and called for further collaboration on the part of pertinent bodies.

Debarwa, 23 October 2013 – Dairy farmers in Debarwa sub-zone said that they have been exerting stepped-up endeavors with a view to raising production, and called for further collaboration on the part of pertinent bodies.

Among the farmers, Mr. Gebrekristos Woldehuney and Mr. Woldemichael Zemed stated that they have been supplying milk to the Association of Dairy Farmers in the locality at fair price, and explained that they demand more resources such as that of land so as to attain higher production.

Mr. Teklemariam Gebreyesus, head of economic development in the sub-zone, indicated that a total of 107 land plots have been distributed for agricultural purposes including irrigation, dairy, poultry and apicultural farming. He also pointed out that efforts are being made to meet the demand of the farmers.
