Gelalo residents express satisfaction with medical service

The residents of Gelalo semi-urban center have expressed satisfaction with the service being rendered by the health center within, and said that it has made significant input as regards promoting community health, especially that of child and mother.

Gelalo, 23 October 2013 – The residents of Gelalo semi-urban center have expressed satisfaction with the service being rendered by the health center within, and said that it has made significant input as regards promoting community health, especially that of child and mother.

Among the residents, Mr. Idris Ahmed and Ms. Halima Mohammed stated that community awareness pertaining to health issues is on the rise following the conducting of community sensitization activities thereof, thus giving rise to low instances of various diseases.

Mr. Mulugeta Tareke, head of the health center, disclosed that child immunization, antenatal and postnatal care, VCT and other services are being rendered in the locality, in addition to community sensitization programs, the impact of which has become vital in lowering morbidity resulting from communicable diseases, as well as child and mother mortality cases.

Accordingly, the number of women who attend antenatal and postnatal services has shown visible increase.

Ms. Amina Mohammed, a native Associate Nurse working at the health center, called for higher awareness on the part of women in this connection.
