Community elders in the port city of Massawa reiterated readiness to step up participation in national development programs. They made the pledge at a meeting with the Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, during which she gave detailed briefings on the domains of infrastructure, agriculture, health as well as social services and called on the inhabitants to play due role to this end.

Massawa, 27 October 2013 – Community elders in the port city of Massawa reiterated readiness to step up participation in national development programs. They made the pledge at a meeting with the Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, during which she gave detailed briefings on the domains of infrastructure, agriculture, health as well as social services and called on the inhabitants to play due role to this end.

Ms. Tsigereda also noted the need of exerting enhanced efforts with a view to nurturing cultural and national values among youths, and called on communities to extend a helping hand towards fulfilling afforestation programs.

Moreover, Mr. Kidane Woldesilasie, Administrator of Massawa sub-zone, pointed out that stepped-up endeavors are being made targeting the furthering of social service outreach, and stated that the partaking in of nationals in the implementation of strategic national development programs remains to be a prerequisite.

The participants of the meeting put forth views pertaining to various issues, and said that they would raise contribution in the national development drive.
